An indoor office phone booth is a freestanding acoustic enclosure for one person to take calls or video meetings. Compare Solo from $7,595 ex GST and Solo Plus from $10,595 ex GST. Both include ventilation, lighting and power; furniture and professional installation are optional extras.
The problem a booth actually solves
Why offices buy themA one-person booth gives staff a place for calls without taking a larger meeting room out of use. Start with the number of calls happening at the same time and how long people need to stay inside.
FocusPod booths are designed for indoor rooms. They are not weatherproof garden offices or outdoor buildings. For calls involving two or more people in the same space, compare meeting pods.
Two booths, one job
Solo · Solo PlusChoose Solo for a compact one-person call space. Choose Solo Plus when the planned desk, chair and equipment need more room. Both seat one person; the larger external footprint does not make Solo Plus a two-person model.
Solo Plus costs $3,000 more before optional extras. Check the internal dimensions and furniture layout to decide whether the additional workspace is useful for your team.

Compare the acoustic test evidence
ISO 23351Compare the speech level reduction reported under ISO 23351-1 for the exact booth model and configuration. A laboratory speech-reduction result does not guarantee that a conversation will be unintelligible outside in every office. Background noise, voice level, distance and installation affect privacy; assess the specific model and intended setting.
Ask for the test method and model-specific report when comparing suppliers. A decibel figure on a website with no standard attached can mean anything at all. Ask any supplier, including us, for the standard and the report number.
Phone booth, call booth, privacy booth, acoustic booth
Same product, different namesThese are all the same category of product, and the name people use usually depends on what they intend to do inside it. Worth knowing the vocabulary before you compare quotes, because two suppliers can describe an identical booth in completely different language.
Office phone booth
The most common term in Australia. A one-person enclosure sized for taking calls rather than working all day.
Call booth
The same product. Used more in contact centres, sales floors and recruitment, where the booth is in near-constant use rather than occasional.
Privacy booth
Emphasises confidentiality rather than noise. Common in HR, legal, medical and financial services, where the concern is being overheard.
Acoustic booth
The technical name. Refers to the construction rather than the use, and is what you will see on test reports and specification sheets.
Soundproof booth
Popular but slightly misleading. Nothing is fully soundproof. What you are buying is measured sound reduction, not silence.
Phone pod or work pod
Pod usually describes the wider family, from a single booth up to a six-person meeting room. Booth almost always means the one-person size.
What is a call booth?
The term, and what changes in constant useA call booth is another name for an indoor office phone booth. For back-to-back calls, compare the usable desk space, adjustable airflow, room temperature and door access alongside the acoustic specification.
A booth against the alternatives
What most offices consider firstA booth is rarely the first idea. Most offices look at building a small room, putting up screens, or simply booking a meeting room for one-person calls. Here is how those compare on the things that end up mattering.
| Compare | Office phone booth | Built room | Acoustic screens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enclosure | Separate indoor space with a door | Separate room designed for your building | Partial separation without a full enclosure |
| Budget | From $7,595 ex GST, plus selected extras | Obtain a construction and services quote | Obtain a quote for the selected screens |
| Speech privacy | Check the model report and intended room | Depends on the design and construction | Assess the limited enclosure for your use |
| Installation | Confirm access, site requirements and assembly | Confirm building work and project schedule | Check fixing, positioning and access requirements |
| Future moves | Plan disassembly, transport and reassembly | Check the lease and make-good requirements | Check the screen system and fixing method |
Screens are the cheapest and they solve a different problem, which is visual distraction and general hum. They will not contain a phone call. If people are being overheard, screens will not fix it and the money is wasted. Full cost comparison against a built meeting room.

Nothing here is an upsell
Ventilation that keeps it usable
Listed airflow is adjustable from 0–70 m³/h for Solo and 0–110 m³/h for Solo Plus. Ventilation draws air from the surrounding room, so consider the room conditions and intended use as well as the selected fan setting.

Lighting built for video
Dimmable LED with adjustable colour temperature, plus two Australian outlets and USB-A and USB-C built in. It matters more than people expect once your face is on camera all day.

Lights on when you walk in
Occupancy sensing switches the light on as you enter and off eight minutes after the last movement. Adjustable, and it can be disabled. Power outlets stay live.

The door does most of the work
A full-glass magnetic-close door with a sealed gasket on a precision aluminium frame. Door seals are where cheap booths fail, and where you hear it first.
Installation and access checks.
Plan the position and delivery routeConfirm a suitable power outlet, the installation position and the delivery route before ordering. Solo’s listed maximum power is 40 W; Solo Plus is listed at 52 W. Any changes to the building’s electrical supply should be assessed by a qualified electrician.
Keep the door swing, ventilation clearances, walkways and exits clear. The pod footprint alone is not the total space required; check the proposed layout with your building manager before ordering. Professional installation is optional. Use the installation guide and delivery checklist to prepare the measurements for your quote.
Your lift
Panels and the pallet need to reach your floor. The packed Solo pallet is 2310 × 570 × 1270 mm, and that 2310 mm length is the dimension that catches people out in CBD towers.
The route from the lift to the spot
Corridor width and any tight corners between the lift doors and where the booth is going to live.
Ceiling height
The booth stands 2338 mm tall and needs clearance above it for ventilation. Send photos and rough measurements and we will confirm it fits before you pay for anything.
How many does a floor need?
A starting ratioCount simultaneous calls during your busiest periods, then separate one-person calls from meetings with several people. Existing meeting rooms, booking rules and average call length all affect demand.
Use the office pod quantity planning guide as a starting point, then compare it with your own team’s usage.

What customers say
Named, with permission★★★★★
“We added a FocusPod Solo because private phone calls were becoming difficult in our open-plan office. It gets used constantly for client calls, Zoom meetings and focused work. It looks professional, takes up very little space and has freed up our meeting rooms for larger groups.”
Emily Carter
Harbour Lane Finance
★★★★★
“We originally purchased one FocusPod Solo to see how much use it would get. Within the first week, staff were booking it throughout the day. It has given everyone a quiet place to take calls without interrupting the rest of the office.”
Daniel Brooks
Westbridge Property Group
★★★★★
“The Solo has been a great addition to our studio. We have a collaborative workspace, which is excellent most of the time, but it can be difficult when someone needs privacy or complete concentration. The pod solves that problem without taking over the room.”
Sarah Mitchell
Coastline Creative
★★★★★
“I use the Solo Plus as a proper workstation for most of the day, not just for short calls. There is enough room for my laptop, monitor and notes, and it feels comfortable even during long stretches of focused work. It has made working in an open office much easier.”
Michael Tran
Apex Digital Solutions
★★★★★
“We chose the Solo Plus for employees who spend several hours each day in video meetings. It feels much more spacious than a standard phone booth and works well as a private office for longer sessions. The lighting and airflow have also been excellent.”

Common questions
Asked by real buyersHow much does an office phone booth cost in Australia?
A one-person office phone booth costs from $7,595 ex GST with free delivery Australia-wide. Professional installation is an optional extra from $995 ex GST. A larger single-person booth with room for dual monitors starts at $10,595 ex GST.
Are office phone booths actually soundproof?
No booth blocks all sound. Compare the speech level reduction and test method for the exact model. The level of privacy also depends on the room’s background noise, speaking volume, installation and door seals; a rating does not guarantee that speech can never be heard outside.
What is the difference between a phone booth, a call booth and a privacy booth?
They are the same product under different names. Phone booth is the most common term in Australia, call booth is used in contact centres, privacy booth emphasises confidentiality rather than noise, and acoustic booth is the technical name used on test reports. Pod usually describes the wider family, from one person up to a six-person meeting room.
Do I need an electrician to install a phone booth?
The standard pod connects to a suitable 240V outlet. Check the selected model’s power specification and your site requirements; Solo and Solo Plus have different listed power figures. Have any changes to the building electrical supply assessed by a qualified electrician.
Do office phone booths need council approval?
Requirements depend on the site and proposed installation. Confirm the pod position with your building manager or landlord, and ask the relevant council or building certifier whether approvals are needed before ordering. Include floor loading, access, fire services and ventilation in the site review.
How many phone booths does an office need?
Start with the number of one-person calls that happen at the same time during busy periods. Check call length, existing rooms and booking demand. Headcount alone does not tell you how many booths your team needs.
Can a phone booth be moved to a new office?
Yes. Booths are modular and can be disassembled, transported and reassembled in a new tenancy. That is the main practical advantage over building a room, which has to be demolished and made good at lease end.
How long does delivery take?
Availability depends on the model, finish and destination. Ask for current stock, dispatch timing and the expected delivery and installation dates in your written quote.

Choosing a privacy booth or acoustic booth
If you are searching for a privacy booth, start with the conversation you need to accommodate. A single-person call and a two-person discussion need different layouts. Compare single-person booths with two-person pods before selecting a model.
Privacy is not guaranteed by the product name. Ask for model-specific acoustic test evidence, and assess speech audibility in the intended room with the door closed and fans operating. Background noise, speaking level, seals and the position of nearby desks all affect the result.
