Acoustic pods and booths

This is the specification page. If you are writing a tender, comparing quotations or checking whether two suppliers are quoting the same thing, the figures below are the ones that matter and the conditions they were measured under are the ones people leave out. Indoor pods only, for the avoidance of doubt: garden rooms are a different product entirely.

Six models, one configurator

Every FocusPod has a glass front and rear, built-in wheels and adjustable levelling feet.

The figure, and what it is measured against

FocusPod is laboratory tested at greater than 29 dB speech level reduction, Ds,2m,nT,w, under ISO 23351-1:2020. Under that standard, a result of 30 dB or above is Class A, so the range sits immediately below the top classification rather than in the middle of the scale.

ISO 23351-1 exists because building acoustics standards are the wrong tool for a piece of furniture. It measures the assembled enclosure in a controlled room, using a speech-weighted source, and reports the reduction in speech level at a defined distance outside. That makes it directly comparable between products in a way that a panel test or a general sound reduction index is not.

If a competing quotation shows a higher number under a different standard, it is not a higher number. It is a different measurement.

What to require in a order summary

Four things, and any supplier who cannot produce all four is asking you to take the figure on trust.

The standard the test was run under, named and dated. The test report itself, from a named laboratory, rather than a marketing figure. Confirmation that the pod was tested assembled, with the door and seals as supplied, and not as a panel. And confirmation that the ventilation was running during the measurement, because a pod tested with the fan off is not the pod that arrives.

The fifth thing, if the specification is going into a tender, is the per-model figure. Acoustic results are specific to the enclosure, so a range-wide claim tells you about the best model rather than the one you are buying.

Indoor acoustic pods, not garden rooms

Worth stating plainly because the two share a search vocabulary and nothing else. Everything on this site is an indoor enclosure, designed to stand inside a conditioned building, plugged into a standard socket, with no weatherproofing, no foundations and no planning consideration. If you are looking for a garden studio or a backyard office, this is the wrong product and we would rather tell you now.

The practical consequence for a specifier is that an indoor pod is assessed as furniture rather than as a structure, which is why it avoids the approvals, the consents and the reinstatement obligations that come with building.

Every model, priced

No enquiry needed. Furniture and installation are separate lines so you can see what each part adds.

What is included as standard

Every FocusPod arrives with laminated glass front and rear, layered acoustic insulation, adjustable ventilation, dimmable LED lighting with adjustable colour temperature, power and an occupancy light. Speech level reduction is laboratory tested at greater than 29 dB under ISO 23351-1, the international standard written specifically for pods. Every pod is covered by our five-year structural and electrical warranty.

There is no separate charge for the black or white exterior or for the standard interior palette. Other exterior colours use the displayed upgrade price, and a custom interior colour is priced per pod. All of it is listed separately as you build, so nothing arrives as a surprise on your order.

See it properly before you decide

Take a look inside. The film below walks through the Solo, the most compact model in the range, and the 3D configurator lets you turn any model around, change the finishes and try the furniture layouts. If you would rather be walked through it, we will do a live video walkthrough of the pod you are considering and answer questions as we go.

Common questions

What is the acoustic rating?

Greater than 29 dB speech level reduction, laboratory tested under ISO 23351-1, measured on the assembled pod with ventilation running. Class A under that standard begins at 30 dB.

Can we have the test report for a tender?

Yes. Ask and we will provide the documentation for the models you are specifying.

How do we compare two suppliers fairly?

Require the standard, the laboratory report, confirmation the pod was tested assembled rather than as a panel, confirmation the ventilation was running, and the figure for the specific model rather than for the range.

Does it need electrical work?

No. It plugs into a standard socket and is not fixed to the building.

How long does delivery take?

Pods are made to the configuration you approve. Indicative lead time is around four weeks from a confirmed order, with delivery and installation scheduled on top, and your order summary confirms the window for your address.

Can I see one before I order?

Yes. Turn any model around in the 3D configurator, watch the product films, and if you would like to be walked through it, we will do a live video walkthrough of the pod you are considering. Send us the room dimensions beforehand and we will talk through how it fits.

Are the front and rear both glass?

Yes. Every FocusPod has glass at both the front and rear. Standard glass is clear. Optional PDLC privacy glass can be selected for the front only or for both the front and rear.

Can I move the pod once it is installed?

Yes. Every FocusPod has built-in wheels and adjustable levelling feet. Raise the feet to move the pod on its wheels, then lower and adjust them to level the pod in its new position.
