Study & library pods · United Kingdom

Study pods for the way students actually learn.

Quiet reading, an online tutorial and a lively group assignment need different spaces. FocusPod study pods give schools, universities and libraries enclosed rooms within the floor plan they already have.

A standard FocusPod example. Your layout, furniture, finishes and custom graphics are developed for the project and agreed in your proposal.

Give discussion a home beside quiet study

A library does not need every student to work in the same way. An enclosed pod can give online classes, peer tutoring and group discussion a defined place, helping the surrounding floor keep its intended character. A single-person space also gives students somewhere to join a tutorial without occupying an entire meeting room.

Place pods where staff can manage them and students can find them. Keep quieter individual spaces separate from higher-turnover collaboration pods, and assess sound in the actual library before placing a speaking space beside a silent-study zone.

An enclosed study pod is different from a study carrel

Open study carrels offer a desk and partial screening. FocusPod supplies enclosed indoor pods with a door, lighting, ventilation and power. Choose the enclosure when your brief needs separation for calls or discussion and a room students can book.

Keep open desks where immediate access and visibility matter most. A pod complements the broader learning environment; it should earn its floor space by meeting a need the surrounding desks cannot.

Plan the everyday details before procurement

  • Independent work: allow for a laptop, books, chair movement and a bag without blocking the exit.
  • Group sessions: choose usable table space, not just the maximum stated seat count.
  • School use: agree sightlines, supervision and door-operation requirements with staff.
  • Inclusive access: assess the doorway, threshold, clear floor area and furniture layout for the intended users.
  • Shared ownership: decide booking length, cleaning arrangements and who handles an overrun.

Use the dimensions and product guide to check the footprint, weight and delivery route with your facilities team.

Make it unmistakably part of your campus

A school-colour wrap, university crest or library name turns a standalone pod into a recognisable campus room. Numbered door decals make bookings easier to follow; a small QR-code sticker can point to your existing booking page or user guide.

Choose the amount of glass coverage around your supervision brief. A full privacy treatment and a requirement for clear sightlines need to be resolved together. We can quote the agreed artwork, wrap coverage and decals with the pod.

A procurement brief your team can use

Start with the user group, the activity and the number of pods. Add the floor plan, access route, preferred installation window and any required documentation. Then compare the pod, furniture, branding and selected installation as separate parts of the project.

Fans use air from the surrounding room, so include your building’s ventilation and cooling conditions in the brief. For a larger roll-out, consistent model choices and numbered graphics can make spaces easier for staff to manage across multiple buildings.

From your idea to a clear proposal

  1. Share the space. Send your campus floor plan, user groups, pod quantities, access requirements and branding guide.
  2. Agree the layout. We will help compare the pod, furniture arrangement and options against that brief. Include your delivery location, ceiling height and delivery access.
  3. Make it yours. Send your logo or artwork and the surfaces you want covered. Agree the wrap, stickers, glass treatment and placement before production.
  4. Review the full quote. Confirm the pod, furniture, custom graphics, selected installation and timing together. Custom work is quoted to the agreed scope.

Questions about study & library pods

Are these enclosed library pods or open desk booths?

They are enclosed indoor pods with a door, integrated lighting, ventilation and power. Optional furniture and the selected model determine the final study layout.

Can students use them for online tutorials?

Yes, an online tutorial is a use to plan for. Check the desk and screen layout, internet connection and the effect of speech on the surrounding study area.

Are all study pods wheelchair accessible?

No. Accessibility must be assessed using the selected model’s doorway, threshold, clearances and furniture arrangement. Share your access requirements before selecting a pod.

Can we add room numbers and a booking QR code?

Yes. Custom wraps and decals can include campus branding, room numbers and a QR code supplied for your existing booking service. A booking system is not included with the graphics.

Are these study pods for sale to libraries and campuses?

Yes. FocusPod supplies enclosed study pods for organisations creating their own study spaces. We do not operate a public study-room booking service. You manage access and bookings within your library, school or university.

Can individual study pods and group study rooms be combined?

Yes. A project can include individual study pods for concentration or online tutorials and larger rooms for group work. We can help plan the mix around the activities your campus or library needs to support.
