Buying guide

Buy, or hire?

The answer is almost entirely about how long you need it, and the crossover is earlier than most people expect.

Hire an office pod for events and anything up to about six months. Buy beyond that — cumulative rental starts overtaking the purchase price and you end up having paid for a pod you do not own. We do not offer long-term hire for that reason. If a rental converts to a purchase, the rental already paid is credited against the price.

The line, and where it sits

How long What makes sense Why
1–14 days Event hire All-inclusive. We deliver, build, test, pack down and take it away. Nothing left on your hands
1–6 months Monthly rental Projects, pop-ups, waiting on a fitout, or testing whether pods get used before committing capital
Beyond 6 months Buy Cumulative rental overtakes the purchase price and you own nothing at the end
A year or more Buy, definitely We do not offer hire at this length — you would be paying substantially more than the pod costs

The case for hiring

Events. An expo or conference needs a booth for three days, not forever. Event hire is quoted as one all-inclusive job covering delivery, assembly, testing, pack-down and collection.

Genuine uncertainty. The most useful reason to rent is not budget, it is doubt. Pods fail when they go in the wrong place on a floor and nobody uses them, and a month of rental answers that question far more cheaply than buying six and finding out.

Waiting on something. A fitout, a lease decision, a move. A rental bridges the gap without committing capital to a space you are about to leave.

The case for buying

It is an asset you keep. Freestanding and relocatable, so generally a depreciable asset rather than a leasehold improvement — it moves with you and keeps its book value.

Delivery is included and stock is here. In-stock pods dispatch the next business day. There is no waiting period that a rental would otherwise be covering.

The maths turns quickly. Past about six months, rental payments start exceeding what the pod would have cost outright, and at a year you are meaningfully out of pocket with nothing on the balance sheet.

Rental credits against a purchase

If you rent and then buy, we credit the rental already paid against the purchase price.

That is the intended path for anyone unsure whether pods will get used. Rent one for a month, put it where the calls actually happen, see what occupancy looks like, then buy — and the trial costs you nothing beyond the time.

It is also why we will tell you to buy rather than take a long rental. A twelve-month hire is worse for you and we would rather have the sale than the tenancy.

Common questions

Is it cheaper to buy or hire an office pod?

Hire is cheaper for events and for anything up to about six months. Beyond that, buying costs less — cumulative rental starts overtaking the purchase price and you own nothing at the end.

Do you offer long-term office pod hire?

No. We hire for events and by the month up to about six months. Past that we will tell you to buy instead, because the arithmetic stops working in your favour and you would be paying more than the pod costs.

Can I rent a pod and then buy it?

Yes, and it is the intended path if you are unsure whether pods will get used. Rental already paid is credited against the purchase price.

How much does it cost to hire an office pod?

Hire is quoted per job rather than from a rate card, because dates, model, quantity, venue and term all move the number. Every quote is all-inclusive, covering delivery, installation, the pod and pack-down.

What is the advantage of buying?

You own a relocatable, depreciable asset that moves with you at the end of the lease, rather than a rental payment with nothing at the end. In-stock pods also ship the next business day, so there is no waiting period a rental would need to cover.

Not sure which side of the line you are on?

Tell us how long you need it and what for. If hiring is the better answer we will say so, and if it is not we will tell you that too.
